Sounds like you'd be the kind of person to just emerge from your lair every few months, some brand new invention in hand and ready to be unleashed on the world.
I did convert a storage shed into a place for all of my herbs and medicine making. [ a lair ] As much as I do enjoy being to stay in and work, I do understand the usefulness of being outside and meeting people.
