[He's on the move pretty quickly once all the younger men are accounted for, but Ludger can run into him on the way out of the library. He looks like he's at least wiped down his face at one point, but it's questionable whether the man has even BEEN back to his own room since this morning.]
[ bro.............. now he feels a little bad. and also like he should whip out a handkerchief and water bottle. ]
You know how Foxglove was looking at the plants for signs of disease? I've also been checking them, but I haven't found anything.
[ ... ]
It actually looked like the plants haven't changed at all. I don't know if it's related, but it reminded me of all the stopped clocks back in the other place.
They're pristine. No wilting , no changes in colors - I haven't even seen a single ripped or crushed leaf. That just doesn't seem likely with all of us trampling around, you know?
No, it was bigger than that. Probably the entire area from the well to the far side of the amphitheater, on the way to the arcade.
[ he shakes his head at the second question ]
I haven't been able to find Foxglove yet- [ bc i, traverse, am stupid and forgor ] -but I'll keep looking. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find Sage, though, and I'm sure they'll pass along a message.
I'd say yours is far stranger than mine. But I'd still consider it something of note.
Myself and one other went to the clothing shops Thursday morning, to do some investigations. While we didn't find anything close to what we were looking for, we were still able to force ourselves back into the storage areas.
Most of it was more of the same. Boxes of items, open and closed, all stuffed with even more clothing or trinkets.
In our searches, both of us found items we recognized. For me, it was a weapon I favored when I was younger. The moment I went to examine it by hand, though.. while it felt like the weapon I remembered, it changed appearance to an item from the store instead.
More than our vision. The moment I tried to take that weapon out of that room, the feeling of the item in my hands changed entirely. As though it had never been a weapon in the first place, and was now what it "looked" like.
I'd already spoken to Sage about my concerns of our changes in perception. This, at least, does little to dampen my worries.
[ ... yeah I'll be real with you, Nik, Ludger has probably just gone door to door on the 4th floor, knocking on each one until he found Urianger's (with Thancred in it). ]
Room service.
[ he's got a tray with two bowls of soup and a plate of (small) sandwiches ]
[He'll probably reach Thancred's actual room first, though it doesn't look like Lynne is in right now from the lack of response.
We'll say Urianger's stepped away, leaving the door to be tentatively opened by a familiar and freshly cleaned (if not slightly askew) mop of white hair, dressed down in more casual, foreign clothing than what he'd been wearing the last few days. Something thrown together from the clothing store, it looks like. Someone found blue jeans, good for him.
He blinks as he sees who it is.]
Ludger?
[There's a slight fog to it, as though the man's only just woken up. But he rolls his shoulders a little with a clear of his throat.]
... I'm afraid Urianger's stepped away for now, but he should be back at some point. What's all this for?
[they're both too busy being nosy or busy to ever be home rip in pieces /j]
...
No, It's alright. I might have dozed a bit, yes, but Urianger would likely have my ear for a bell or two if I was too stubborn to accept a meal hand-delivered. He'd welcome the interruption.
...Your kindness is appreciated, Ludger. Thank you.
Only if you'll let me be a proper gentleman and hold the door. [At least he's in a good enough way to still be joking. And yes, he'll hold the door open. Nothing crazy here in the common area, outside the fact that there's a blanket half-draped against a corner of the couch, disheveled in the way that betrays recent use.]
The landing there next to the icebox should be fine. If the plates will fit overtop and conserve the heat, then that might work best.
[ in both benign and not so benign ways. but Ludger moves on, considering the whole. Lobelia issue. ]
... I hate to be a devil's advocate, but it is possible he's being honest and wrong at the same time. Besides, do we really need to trust him to work with him?
Working with him isn't the concern I have. He's been no stranger to voicing a desire for cooperation. I just don't trust his personal motives for doing so.
[Perhaps unfairly, but tonight is not a night for him to challenge that directly.]
...What was most familiar about it to you? During the whole situation.
[ regardless of what Lobelia actually wants out of this, currently they're all at square one, with basically nothing to go on. they can't afford to be picky at this point. ]
Oh... the hands kind of reminded me of one of my friend Elize's artes - Negative Gate, I think. But it doesn't have that kind of effect. [ ... ] The rest of it was... a little like when I find divergence catalysts. But again - completely different effect.
[He exhales slowly, but doesn't respond to the question. That should be answer enough. Sorry, Ludger. He knows the answer is "no". It doesn't change how he feels.]
A spell of sorts, I take it. Though I'm not familiar with the second - a "divergence catalyst"?
[ sometimes you just have to work with people you can't stand... it's the circle of capitalism (no)
Ludger considers the question. ]
It's basically something or someone that's changed the course of history. They're the heart of alternate dimensions - if you find one, they transform their hosts. If you destroy one, they sort of... scatter and fade.
[He's tucked riiiiight up against one of the running PC towers, tail just barely twitching as Ludger speaks up.]
Warmest right here. Sorry.
[His voice is a lot more lethargic than it had been earlier. But he slowly, stiffly stretches, trying to sit himself up with eyes that sit heavy in Ludger's direction.]
Ludger. Right, I thought so... Did you need me to move?
[ when he turns returns, he's got a bundle of something in his hands. ]
Here, take this.
[ it's a towel! and it feels like it's wrapped around a couple of lumpy... things? if Thancred squeezes one, it'll scrunch, exactly like a small bag of rice. and it's very warm... ]
well thankfully he wasn't really in much a shape to move, anyway (at least not very fast), so he's right where Ludger left him whenever he comes back, curled right back up and groggily turning his head at the voice
With a breathy noise of bare understanding, he reaches out with a clawed hand and
He's fumbling to unfasten the front of his coat so he can just get that nice and settles next to his core, uno momento. Though he does blow out an exhale at the question, close to a laugh.]
Stubbornness, I suppose.
The fatigue comes in waves. Mostly I work around it. Sometimes I can't. [Sometimes even with layering up he still pushes too hard and ends up under a computer desk cause he spent a little too much time out in the autumn air and went completely into instinct mode when his heart rate dropped like a rock.]
[ well, judging by the yelling, Thancred is in. after extracting himself from Fran and Cantarella's, uh. experiment, he'll make his way to the 4th floor and knock on the door. once Thancred answers... ]
Do you still have the papers you and Alhaitham translated? The ones from the infirmary.
[Here's Thancred! Dressed down given the now-scorching weather, a light button-up top kept wide open. No shame here. Still, he's all business as usual when he sees it's Ludger.]
Aye, though I won't take credit for that. All I did was help transcribe them. [He'll wave Ludger in as he ducks into his room, rummaging through his desk before producing two piles - the originals, as well as his notes from Alhaitham's on-the-spot translation attempt.] Did you notice something?
w0, friday
Hey, do you have a second? I'm not sure if this is anything, but I at least wanted to tell someone else about it.
no subject
Ludger?
Of course, you have my attention. What is it?

You know how Foxglove was looking at the plants for signs of disease? I've also been checking them, but I haven't found anything.

...When you say they aren't changing, what exactly do you mean?
[He's aware plants grow, yes, but that would surely take more time and observation than a handful of days.]
no subject
They're pristine. No wilting , no changes in colors - I haven't even seen a single ripped or crushed leaf. That just doesn't seem likely with all of us trampling around, you know?

[ surely the plants should've started dying by now ]

Have you been able to track down Foxglove at all with your realization?

no subject
Aye, that would do. I've yet to find any of them a second time, but if I spot them before you do, I've no issue with passing your observation along.
Would you take something of mine as well, in return? While we're exchanging information.
no subject
[ ... ]
Well, stranger.

his wallet is back there- ]
It felt right, but it looked wrong... Maybe our vision is being messed with?
[ but then why would it look right at first before changing? ]
no subject
I'd already spoken to Sage about my concerns of our changes in perception. This, at least, does little to dampen my worries.
no subject
[ for Thancred's senses to be so thoroughly fooled is bizarre. ]
... Can we even believe the things we're seeing if something like that is possible?
no subject
[Ridiculous to the mind, even if the senses might say otherwise.]
No need to jump to any conclusions. Just be cautious, and be careful taking things at face value until we can find out more.
no subject
Got it. You take care, too.
w0, sunday, post all o' That
Room service.

LUDGER HELP
We'll say Urianger's stepped away, leaving the door to be tentatively opened by a familiar and freshly cleaned (if not slightly askew) mop of white hair, dressed down in more casual, foreign clothing than what he'd been wearing the last few days. teehee
Ludger takes in Thancred's demeanor with a tilt of his head, before smiling apologetically. ]
Sorry, did I wake you? It seemed like things were kind of rough on you both back there, so I made food for you guys.
[ ... ]
If you've already eaten, the sandwiches will keep, but you'll need to reheat the soup.

Don't worry about it, it's the least I could do.
[ he shifts his weight, offering the tray ]
Mind if I set this down?

I'll put them on the counter and cover them.
[ sir your British ]
2/2
Seriously though, are you doing okay? You seemed pretty rattled by what happened to Giyuu.
no subject
[Except he knows that's not what Ludger is after. So he gives it a second, dropping to a seat at the edge of the couch.]
Just some unpleasant reminders, otherwise.
Lobelia said it's nothing magical. I've just not decided whether I trust the man at his word or not.
no subject
[ in both benign and not so benign ways. but Ludger moves on, considering the whole. Lobelia issue. ]

Actually, change of plans. Do not move, I'll be right back.
